About the picture
When the aurora is almost straight overhead, its rays seem to meet at a single point — a perspective effect known as a corona. Here the rays fan out in green and violet over a bare, snow-covered fell, while small spruces in the foreground are so loaded with snow and rime that they look like pale columns lit from above.
Computer-generated scene; it does not show a specific real place.
How to approach these sliding tiles
Sliding puzzles are solved from the top down: finish the first row, then the second, and keep them intact. Top rows of this picture: the night sky.
Tiles with clear detail are easy to recognise by eye: the aurora rays, the snow-loaded spruces, the stars. Where tiles look alike, switch on the numbers (the # button) — the gap always ends in the bottom-right corner.
Picture character
Large areas of nearly one tone — a slow, absorbing puzzle. A smaller size makes a good warm-up. Demanding →
